Selcom Executive Director, Mr Sameer Hirji fuels one of the “Full Tenki” reward recipients during the a short reward ceremony held at Puma Upanga in Dar es Salaam. Selcom and Puma Energy, today, on August 13, have continued their efforts to support the Tanzanian government's efforts to digitize payments, especially in the energy sector. The two companies have done so by recommencing their "Achana na Cash, lipa kidijitali tukupige full tenki” campaign for a further two weeks until 31 August 2020.

The campaign started on June 4, 2020 and was scheduled to end on August 4, 2020. Given the high level of participation from digitally paying customers, the companies decided to extend the campaign duration for another two weeks to give 10 more Tanzanians the opportunity to be rewarded for paying digitally at Puma Energy stations countrywide.

Selcom’s and Puma Energy’s intent to digitize and formalize payments is obvious as it is not the first time  they have jointly run a similar campaign encouraging digital payments. November 2019 saw the two giants launch their Bomba Weekends campaign which offered 5% cash back to customers who paid digitally through Selcom Pay/Mastercard QR at all Puma Energy locations.

“We have seen a significant rise in digital payments over the past few years as payers are increasingly choosing digital methods as a means of payment. More importantly, this has contributed to Tanzanians furthering the government's commitment to formalizing the payments and the economy.”

“Our job as Selcom is to improve and simplify this payment technology to reach every Tanzanian.”
